MedX Low-Level Laser TherapyMedX

Low-Level Laser Therapy is a modality that uses light energy on a specific wavelength to penetrate deep into tissue.  This light energy is absorbed by the various tissues in the body (muscles, joints, ligaments) and is transferred into biochemical energy.  As a result, there is a decrease in swelling, acceleration in healing time, and an increase in the pain threshold, due to the release of endorphins (morphine-like substances that inhibit the sensation of pain).  This increase in pain threshold also allows for increased tolerance to manual therapies, such as Active Release Techniques®, to help you get the results you need.  Therapeutic Laser is very safe, and has been proven very effective in the treatment osteoarthritis, muscle strains, andsports injuries, just to name a few.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know Laser Therapy is right for me?
Laser Therapy treatments at Active Approach Health & Wellness Centre are administered by the Doctors of Chiropractic.  On your initial visit, your health concerns will be discussed, a thorough physical examination will be performed, and a detailed discussion will follow on whether Laser Therapy is right for you.

Does Laser Therapy hurt?
No.  Low-Level Laser is painless.  Essentially Laser Therapy is light that is controlled at a specific intensity and wavelength, and then administered with a specific dose based on the condition and depth of tissue being treated.

How much does Laser Therapy cost?
Laser Therapy fees are equal to those of a Chiropractic treatment, and are often covered by your extended health coverage under your Chiropractic allowance.  Please call for details about our treatment fees.

What conditions can Laser Therapy treat?
The list is almost endless.  There are very few contra-indications to the use of Laser Therapy, as it is an extremely safe modality.  Please see our Scope of Practice section for a list of conditions we treat or call us for further details.

If you have a specific clinical question, please feel free to email us at info@activeapproach.ca, and one of our Doctors of Chiropractic will be sure to personally respond to your inquiry.
